
James Woodhall is a composer, conductor and experienced teacher. He writes music in a wide variety of styles and is passionate about encouraging others to engage, experiment and enjoy music in all its forms. As a composer he regularly writes choral pieces, sometimes for school but also for choirs around the country and his music has been performed at London’s Festival Hall the International Anthony Burgess Centre in Manchester and most recently, Waltham Abbey. He has written a number of Musicals which have been performed at The Stables, Milton Keynes as well as being recorded and filmed. During one of the Lockdowns, his piece ‘The Botanist’s Dance’ was selected to be played live by Maria Marchant from London’s Blüthner Piano Centre as part of her ‘7 Notes in 7 Days’ series. He composes, directs and plays the piano in the Cold Light Ensemble who have performed music from their debut album of James’ music at the legendary PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho as well as St John’s Smith Square.
